The Gimble Expansion Joint is an extension of the higned type, allowing angular rotation in any plane. The Gimbal expansion joint is used in pairs to accomodate lateral deflection in any plane. The pressure thrust is contained within the gimbal arrangement. The most common use is a three - dimensional system with two gimbals in combination with one hinged expansion joint. The system accomodates thermal motion in three planes.
